What is the Three Days of Darkness and where is that found in scripture?

What does Sacred Scripture say about 3 days of darkness? One specific time in history when God used three days of darkness to punish the world can be found in Exodus.

The Ninth Plague: Darkness

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward heaven that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, a darkness to be felt.” So Moses stretched out his hand toward heaven, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days; they did not see one another, nor did any rise from his place for three days; but all the people of Israel had light where they dwelt.

Exodus 10:21-23

From Sacred Scripture we see that God allowed His people to escape the darkness, so too will it be this time. And in the book of Matthew we read what Jesus said about the end of days.

The Coming of the Son of Man

“Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken; then will appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn…”

MATT 24:29-30

God does nothing without first telling His prophets. What is God saying to His prophets about what Christians are to do during this time? This is important because just as the ninth plague in Egypt was followed by death, so too shall this plague of darkness on our land include certain death. In Moses’ time it was the blood of the lamb over the doorpost that protected the favored people from destruction. In today’s modern time it will be something more akin to what God said to Lot and his wife. Unfortunately for Lot’s wife, she didn’t adhere to the instructions from the Angel of the Lord and she was destroyed.

When morning dawned, the angels urged Lot, saying, “Arise, take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be consumed in the punishment of the city.” But he lingered; so the men seized him and his wife and his two daughters by the hand, the Lord being merciful to him, and they brought him forth and set him outside the city. And when they had brought them forth, they said, “Flee for your life; do not look back or stop anywhere in the valley; flee to the hills, lest you be consumed.” But Lot’s wife behind him looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.

Genesis 19:15-17, 26

That is why it is very important to heed the message God sends about any remedy during this plague on the world. Two messengers being used by God are Marie-Julie Jahenny and St. Faustina.

And Marie-Julie announced the three days of darkness during which
the infernal powers will be loosed and will execute all the enemies of
God. « THE EARTH WILL BECOME LIKE A VAST CEMETERY. The
bodies of the wicked and the just will cover the ground.

The famine will be great… Everything will be thrown into confusion… THE CRISIS WILL EXPLODE SUDDENLY ; THE PUNISHMENTS WILL BE SHARED BY ALL AND WILL SUCCEED ONE ANOTHER WITHOUT INTERRUPTION. . . (4th of January 1884).

The three days of darkness – WILL BE ON A THURSDAY, FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. Days of the Most Holy Sacrament, of the Cross and Our Lady. .. three days less one night.

THE EARTH WILL BE COVERED IN DARKNESS, says Our Lady on 20th of September 1882, AND HELL WILL BE LOOSED ON EARTH. The thunder and lightning will cause those who have no faith or trust in my Power, to die of fear. During these three days of terrifying darkness, no windows must be opened, because no one will be able to see the earth and the terrible colour it will have in those days of punishment without dying at once.

The sky will be on fire, the earth will split. . . During these three days of darkness LET THE BLESSED CANDLE BE LIGHTED EVERYWHERE, no other light will shine …

NO-ONE OUTSIDE A SHELTER,., will survive, THE EARTH WILL SHAKE AS AT THE JUDGEMENT and fear will be great. Yes, We will listen to the prayers of your friends ; NOT ONE WILL PERISH. We WILL NEED THEM TO PUBLISH THE GLORY OF THE CROSS. (8th of December 1882).

THE CANDLES OF BLESSED WAX ALONE WILL GIVE LIGHT DURING THIS HORRIBLE DARKNESS. ONE CANDLE ALONE WILL BE ENOUGH FOR THE DURATION OF THIS NIGHT OF HELL…

In the homes of the wicked and blasphemers these candles will give NO LIGHT.

And Our Lady states :
Everything will shake except the piece of furniture on which the blessed candle is burning. This will not shake. You will all gather around with the crucifix and my blessed picture. This is what will keep away this terror.

St. Faustina

“Before I come as the just Judge, I am coming first as the King of Mercy.
Before the day of justice arrives, there will be given to people a sign in the heavens of this sort:

All light in the heavens will be extinguished, and there will be great darkness over the whole earth.

Then the sign of the cross will be seen in the sky, and from the openings where the hands and the feet of the Savior were nailed will come forth great lights which will light up the earth for a period of time.

This will take place shortly before the last day.”

The Three Days of Darkness are certain to come, but God, in His Mercy, also sends a remedy for His faithful. There are several events predicted by prophecy that may come to pass before these three days. First will be a Warning or Illumination of Conscience, second will be a period of suffering in the form of a human made chastisement (possibly starting before the first), and third, a great miracle that will happen within 12 months after the Illumination.

God, in His Mercy, is going to give sinners every reason to repent. Many will, but sadly many will not.
