Before discussing the topic of prophecy it’s important to understand the difference between Public Revelation and Private Revelation. The first half of this video is a good primer on what is Public Revelation and what is Private Revelation and the appropriate caution that should be applied to Private Revelation for obvious reasons as described in 1 John 4.
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are of God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Public Revelation
Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our assembling to meet him, we beg you, brethren, not to be quickly shaken in mind or excited, either by spirit or by word, or by letter purporting to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. Let no one deceive you in any way; for that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.
2 Thessalonians 2 (RSVCE)
From 2 Thessalonians 2 we see that the great rebellion must come first. For the rebellion to come the Gospel must be preached to a large portion of humanity. Otherwise it wouldn’t be a rebellion but a rejection. Other translations use the word apostasy for rebellion. For a Catholic the rebellion started with the schism of the Catholic Church, the universal church as it was called in the first century. The first schism, the East–West Schism according to wikipedia, also called the Schism of 1054, was the break of communion between what are now the Catholic Church and Eastern Orthodox Churches. The next schism happened in 1517 with a German monk of the Catholic Church nailing a set of 95 grievances with his superiors to their front door. In the last 50 or so years the rebellion is at a much more personal level between family members of the same household where some belief in the supernatural and some have no use for superstitions as they deem it. The apostacy is at an all time high for young people in the church. The final rebellion among Catholics is the non-belief in the True Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. Almost 7 out of every 10 Catholics no longer believe what Jesus taught about the Eucharist in John chapter 6. It is recorded in John 6 that this was the hardest teaching of Jesus, and one which He offered no explanation for.
He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats me will live because of me. This is the bread which came down from heaven, not such as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live for ever.
Many of his disciples, when they heard it, said, “This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?” But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples murmured at it, said to them, “Do you take offense at this? Then what if you were to see the Son of man ascending where he was before? It is the spirit that gives life, …the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

Certainly the first criteria is mostly fulfilled. The apostasy is real and large portions of the population that once believed… no longer do.
The coming of the lawless one by the activity of Satan will be with all power and with pretended signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are to perish, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends upon them a strong delusion, to make them believe what is false, so that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
2 Thessalonians 2 (RSVCE)
As explained in the video, every age had deceptions appropriate for their understanding. Almost as if, that age could only handle a certain level of deception and so Satan obliged. Is it really possible that angels are sophisticated enough to be like a shape shifter we see in the movies? Could they manipulate what we see and have us believe they are aliens or extra-terrestrials based upon what we believe ET should look like?
But there are definitely supernatural events that have happened through time. The parting of the Red Sea so 100,000 people could cross but when Pharaoh tried to cross it collapsed on him. The bread from heaven, the manna, the daily bread, that lasted 40 years to continuously feed almost 600,000 people at the end of their journey to the promised land. There is no credible scientific explanation and it falls into the realm of the supernatural.
One event that falls more into Private Revelation is what happened 400 years, almost to the day, from the time the German monk posted his grievances to the door of the church. It was October 13th, 1917 that the Miracle of the Sun was observed by 70,000 people.

What prophetic messages were given at Fatima?
Fatima is undoubtedly the most prophetic of modern apparitions. The first and second parts of the “secret”—which are here published in sequence so as to complete the documentation—refer especially to the frightening vision of hell, devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the Second World War, and finally the prediction of the immense damage that Russia would do to humanity by abandoning the Christian faith and embracing Communist totalitarianism.

Most of the messages were fulfilled during WWII, but the third secret was not revealed until 50 years after the original request by the blessed Mother.
The third secret deals with a bishop in white, presumably the Pope, who is walking towards the top of a mountain with dead clerics all around him. When he gets to the top, he is shot and killed. Some say this is a vision that describes the destruction of Rome and more specifically, the Vatican. Pope John Paul II indicated it was associated with the assassination attempt on his life, but the grace bestowed by the Blessed Virgin moved the bullet sufficiently to keep it from being fatal.

The third message on October 13, 1973, the actual anniversary of the final visions and miracle of Fatima is as follows: “As I told you, if men do not repent and better themselves, the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity. It will be a punishment greater than the deluge, such as one will never have seen before. Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful. The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead. The only arms which will remain for you will be the Rosary and the Sign left by my Son. Each day, recite the prayers of the Rosary. With the Rosary, pray for the Pope, the bishops and the priests. The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, and bishops against other bishops. The priests who venerate me will be scorned and opposed by their Confreres. The Church and altars will be vandalized. The Church will be full of those who accept compromises and the demon will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord.

For some time God will no longer remember France or Italy, because the Gospel of Jesus Christ is no longer known. The wicked will unleash all their malice; even in homes there will be killing and mutual massacres.
With the first lightning blow of His sword, the mountains and all nature will tremble with dread, because the disorders and crimes of men are piercing the vault of the heavens. Paris will be burned and Marseilles swallowed up; a number of large cities will be shattered and swallowed by earthquakes; all will seem lost; only murders will be seen, the clash of arms and blasphemies heard. The righteous will suffer greatly; their prayers, their penances and their tears will rise to heaven and all God’s people will ask pardon and mercy and will ask my help and intercession. Then Jesus Christ, by an act of His justice and His great mercy toward the righteous, will command His angels to put all His enemies to death. At one blow the persecutors of the Church of Jesus Christ and all men given to sin will perish, and the earth will become like a desert.
