Do you believe in miracles? Do you believe in supernatural events? Events that can not be explained through the science of man but only through the power of God? Today marks the 104th anniversary of the great Miracle of the Sun which happened in Fatima on October 13th, 2017. What a miserable day it was. Everyone was soaked by the persistent rain for two days. But in a matter of 15 minutes, the entire area was free of water and even peoples clothes that were soaked were amazingly dried. So what happened?

As Father Raymond J. de Souza writes in the National Catholic Register:

That was the day of the final apparition at Fatima in 1917, the “miracle of the sun” witnessed by some 70,000 people. It was a terrifying vision of the sun veering from its orbit in the sky, spinning and careening in such fashion as that many present thought the end of the world was upon them. 

That vision was followed by an image of domestic tranquility, the Holy Family, as if to contrast the disorder of fallen nature with the restoration of nature in Jesus and Mary, together with their guardian, St. Joseph.

They also report that Lúcia, the eldest of the visionaries, reported this about the apparition that day:

Then opening her hands, she (Our Lady) made them reflect on the sun, and as she ascended, the reflection of her light continued to be projected on the sun itself. … After Our Lady had disappeared into the immense distance of the firmament, we beheld St. Joseph with the Child Jesus and Our Lady robed in white with a blue mantle, beside the sun. St. Joseph and the Child Jesus appeared to bless the world, for they traced the Sign of the Cross with their hands. When a little later, this apparition disappeared I saw Our Lord and Our Lady. … Our Lord appeared to bless the world in the same manner as St. Joseph had done.

As the world spins out of control, Catholics across the globe are remembering Our Lady who was allowed by God to come to the world in 1917 and cause the sun to spin as if out of control. They are praying for a full restoration of the church the way Jesus started it and the complete unity of all believers.

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, ² with all lowliness and meekness, with patience, forbearing one another in love, ³ eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
