Idols Thrown Into Tiber

In the early hours on Monday, 21 October 2019, a group of faithful Catholics went into the Catholic Church, where pagans were allowed to worship their idols in the full presence of the current pontiff, and those faithful Catholics respectfully gathered all the idols and headed to the bridge going into Castel Sant’Angelo. One by one, they threw the idols into the river Tiber. 1 Peter 5 produced this tribute to the destruction of the idols.

Dr. Taylor Marshall discusses the prior times where Bishops and Popes had to do the same thing in their day. But, in the current situation, it was the faithful laity that had to lead the charge.

1. “You shall have no other gods before Me,” says the Lord God, as the first of the commandments (Ex 20:3). Delivered originally to Moses and the Hebrew people, this command remains valid for all people and all times, as God tells us: “You shall not carve idols for yourselves in the shape of anything in the sky above or on the earth below or in the waters beneath the earth; you shall not bow down before them or worship them” (Ex 20:4-5). Our Lord Jesus Christ kept this commandment perfectly. When offered the kingdoms of the world if only he would bow to the devil, Jesus responded, “Begone, Satan! for it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve’” (Mt 4:10; Dt 6:13-14).
